Abstract: The main rules of different connection styles between towers and deck effects on seismic responses of cable-stayed bridge are discussed herein. Parametric study on the seismic responses of cable-stayed bridge with elastic connection through response spectrum analysis is done, mechanical mechanism of elastic connection stiffness effects on the seismic responses of cable-stayed bridge is analyzed in details. Furthermore parametric study on the seismic responses of cable-stayed bridge with viscous fluid dampers through nonlinear history analysis is done, the rules of damping constant and velocity exponent of dampers effects on the seismic responses of cable-stayed bridge is concluded as well. The seismic responses of the one with Hybrid application of elastic connections and dampers between towers and deck have been studied further. After comparison with other connection styles, it can be concluded that purely applying viscous fluid dampers is a best way of seismic reduction for long span cable-stayed bridge.
