Aseismic performance of a steel lattice column with lace bar

Abstract:A steel lattice column with lace bar was proposed to be a lateral force component applied in civil buildings. To investigate its aseismic performance, a full-scale specimen was made and tested under quasi-static cyclic loading. The sizes and angle of the specimen were determined after optimization. Its hysteretic characteristics, skeleton curve, stiffness degradation curve and energy dissipation capacity were analyzed according to the measured hysteretic curves. The test results indicated that the column’s load-bearing capacity does not obviously drop when the story drift angle reaches 1/250; the column has better stability and energy dissipation capacity; comparing hysteretic characteristics of the column simulated using the finite element software ABAQUS with those of tests, both of them agree well.
