Structural damage identification based on modal indices and data fusion for an arch bridge of concrete-filled steel tube

Abstract:In order to improve the diagnosis rate,a structural damage identification method based on modal indices and data fusion was proposed in this paper. In this method, multi-damage indices are used to initially diagnose damage on basis of structural vibration response. Then the weighted-average algorithm is used to fuze the multi-damage indices, and thus the fusion decision-making and damage location are made based on the peak value method. To verify the feasibility and efficiency, both single- and multi-damage patterns were simulated to identify for a two-span arch bridge of concrete-filled steel tube, and the effect of noise on identification accuracy was also taken into account. A comparison was made among the fusion method and single damage index. The results show that the proposed method can not only locate both sinle- and multi-damage patterns, but also excel single damage indices.
