Abstract A positive-feed lubrication method is proposed to solve the problems due to passive-feed lubrication method applied for the space applications. To achieve the purpose of positive lubrication, a piezoelectric micro-droplet generator with simple structure and production convenience has been developed for the applications of space lubrication. Natural frequency and vibration mode shape are both important for the droplet formation and ejection. Firstly, an equivalent model of piezoelectric structure-liquid and the transmission of the pressure wave are presented. Secondly, analysis of finite elementary method is used to obtain the natural frequency and vibration mode shape. Finally, Laser Doppler Vibrometer is used to measure the actual vibration mode shape and natural frequency. Validity of the structure-liquid finite elementary model and practicability of the finite elementary method are both proved by comparing the results.
