Abstract The commonly used wavelet de-noising methods were analyzed, and a comprehensive threshold method based on the kurtosis of vibration signal was proposed. The threshold was determined on the wavelet coefficients of signal and noise at different scales. The soft and hard threshold functions were combined of based on their merits, and a new function with adjustable threshold parameter was proposed. Comparative analysis with other commonly used wavelet de-noising methods was carried out.
