Study on a new type of single actuator driven longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic milling system
Ultrasonic composite vibration not only helps to improve machining quality and efficiency in the cutting and welding process, but also helps to extend the service life of the cutter. Therefore, the motion characteristics and cutting trajectory features of longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic milling system were analyzed. Then, based on the vibration theory of oblique beam, the ultrasonic horn with oblique beams which have simple processing technology and low manufacturing cost was proposed. Meanwhile, the fact that the single longitudinal excitement could generate longitudinal-torsional composite vibration was proved through finite element analysis of structural dynamic characteristics of the ultrasonic horn. Finally, the longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic milling system was carried out on the carbon-fiber composites. The results showed that longitudinal-torsional composite ultrasonic vibration could improve the milling effect, and proved that the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were correct.
