Abstract:To obtain the vehicle load effect extreme value distribution during the bridge operation period, a non-stationary extreme value model considering traffic growth was proposed. The Amended Generalized Pareto Distribution (AGPD) model was constructed by using the idea of "time-disperse" and "probability combination" based on the traditional Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD). After the numerical verification of the model, the extreme value level of stochastic traffic load effect with return period of 1950a was predicted in AGPD model. The numerical results show that traditional GPD model has poorly applicability. Extreme value of vehicle load effects presents non-stationarity characteristics due to traffic volume growth was significant, which dissatisfied the IID assumption. However, the AGPD model was able to extrapolate the extreme value of non-stationary processes; Based on the same vehicle load distribution, the extrapolated value of the load effect with a return period of 1950a is 1.55-1.58 times that of the "General Specifications for Design of Highway Bridges and Culverts" (JTG D60-2015) when the annual growth rates of traffic volume is 0%,1.0%, 2.0%, 3.0% , 4.1%, 5.0%, 6.0%.
