Abstract:Axially loads existing in structure vibration influence the vibration properties. Using the transfer matrix method, the flexural vibration band gaps in axially loaded periodic composite beam are studied. The band structure and transmission coefficient are calculated. Flexural vibration band gaps can exist in the axially loaded periodic structure beam. And the load can influence the gap frequency ranges and attenuation. Also, we find the existence of the extra low frequency band gap with appropriate load. By tuning the amplitude and direction of the axially load, the adaptability of the band gap will be improved
