MONITORING DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF A HIGHRISE STRUCTURE BASED ON DIGITAL CAMERA TECHNOLOGY

Abstract:In the field of structural health monitoring, the image processing technology based on digital camera is arousing widespread concern as a new technique of structure vibration monitoring. Taking the GZ New TV Tower as the research background, the author makes use of the industrial digital camera as well as the GPS and accelerometer to monitor the dynamic characteristics of the tower. The analysis of the data shows that the dynamic displacement time history obtained from the digital camera system matches well with the one obtained from GPS. The former can exactly obtained the lower natural frequency; meanwhile, the first natural frequency obtained from the digital camera system matches well with the results of the GPS, the accelerometer and the Finite Element Analysis. The research result of this paper shows that the application of digital camera technology in dynamic characteristics monitoring of highrise structure is an effective new technique in structural health monitoring.
