Abstract:The SHM system of Guangzhou New TV Tower has monitored the structural responses after having completed its construction under different excitation events (the typhoon, the earthquake and normal wind excitation conditions). Firstly, the time history and PSD of the acceleration response under different excitation events have been compared. Secondly, the modal properties (modal frequencies, mode shapes, and damping ratios) of the structure under different excitation events have been identified and compared using the acceleration responses. At last, the HHT technique is applied for obtaining the instantaneous frequencies and energy distribution under different excitation events in the time-frequency domain by use of the monitoring data and compared with the result of the wavelet scalogram. The results of this paper supply some references for better understanding the dynamic characteristics of supertall under different excitation.
