Investigation in Self-Sensing Vibration Suppressing Based on Charger Driven Piezoelements

Abstract:A method of self-sensing charger driver for piezoelements was presented. The possibility was investigated that a piezoelectric element is utilized as a sensor while actuating based on the presented method. The control circuit of the method is simple, convenient to be adjusted and easy to be implemented in smart structures. And it is effective to damp vibration of beam using the method. The amplitude of the vibration was actively damped by a factor exceeding 90%, when the method is applied to the first-order cantilever vibration suppression. Experimental results show that the piezoelectric actuator can effectively perceive structure motion while being driven by charger driver. Furthermore, the method can also be used in numerous fields, such as scanning probe microscopy, monitoring and control of smart structures.
