Abstract:Using optical interference technique, the elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) film of roller pairs during a sudden stop was measured on a self-developed film thickness measurement test rig of a finite line contact, and the effect of the applied load was discussed. Numerical simulation for EHL problem of roller pairs in the process of sudden stop was carried out with multi-grid method. Results show that, the impact caused by the sudden stop of roller pairs is closely related to the load, and the oil film shape and thickness change with the load. Qualitative comparison shows that the theoretical results are identical with the experimental results. Therefore, the impact caused by the sudden stop has some influence on the lubricating performance of roller pairs.
