Abstract:A novel kind of flextensional transducer base on PVDF piezoelectric film had been proposed in this paper. The metal shell in the traditional flextensional transducer was replaced by the PVDF film. This new kind of flextensional transducer was tested by the impedance analyzer, the laser scanning vibrometer and an underwater acoustic measurement system to characterize the resonant frequency, bandwidth, the transmitting voltage response and the directivity. The test results show that this new kind of flextensional transducer has the ability to converse the longitudinal vibration of piezoelectric stack into the radial vibration of the PVDF film as the traditional flextensional transducer does.
