Shaking tables tests are applied to investigate the seismic behavior and dynamic response of immersed tunnel and joints. In order to compare the influence of soil and immersed tunnel as well as the joint, the test takes account of the uniform and wave passage effect in different apparent wave velocity of longitudinal seismic excitation. The result shows that the tunnel and the soil keep the synchronous motion under the uniform seismic excitation. However, when the wave passage effect was considered, the tunnel and soil will emerge sliding at the interface. The longitudinal wave passage effect and its input direction can have a great impact on axial force, bending moment and deformation of joints. The wave passage effect will make the joints deformation tend to non-uniformity, so it should be considered in the aseismic design of immersed tunnel and joints.
