A study on the similar model of uplift of quayside container crane under seismic condition

Abstract:In order to improve the accuracy of the investigate results of the quayside container crane's uplift under seismic conditions, the similarity relationship between the quayside container crane prototype and the model are deduced based on the equation of motion of the quayside container crane's uplift. The dynamic similarity model of the quayside container crane is established, and then the shaking table tests of the 1:20 scale model of the quayside container crane are made and carried out. Moreover, the response values of the monitoring points of the test model under different seismic conditions are investigated, which following, the law of wheel rail pressure changing with time are analyzed under the different cases, and the response results of the scale model of the quayside container crane are tested. Furthermore, the test results are compared with the simulation results by combining the finite element method. The results show that the response results of the model in the shake table test are consistent with those in the finite element simulation, and the similarity relationship is accurate and reliable which is established from the equation of motion. This study provides a theoretical reference for similar model design of large structures.
