Abstract:Recent studies on plastic dynamic responses of thin and stiffened metal plates under blast loads are reviewed. The experimental loading methods and the theoretical and numerical methods to determine the impulsive loads in close-range/contact blast experiments are discussed. The study advancement on failure modes, plastic deformation, cracking and breach of thin and stiffened metal plates under blast loading is introduced. The problems for further work are presented.
