Abstract: In order to dispose sensors to reasonable freedom degrees, and reflect adequately the dynamic characteristics of tested structure, the sensor placements of dynamic testing must be optimized. In this paper, taking MAC matrix, Fisher information matrix, and their combinations as optimization criteria respectively, the integer‐coded genetic algorithm was applied to single-objective or multi-objective optimal sensor placement problem. compared with three existing optimal sensor placement method, which are modal kinetic energy, effective independence, and cumulative method based on QR decomposition, their results of the optimal sensor placements indicated that the integer‐coded genetic algorithm is better than three existing method.
