Abstract:The basic theory and algorithm of independent component analysis are briefly introduced, and then the relation between normal coordinates and independent components is discussed. Normal coordinates are considered as a specific case of sources that have certain time structure. So, the mode-superposition of structure can be identified by blind source separation algorithms and independent component analysis is developed to identify structural modal parameters by using free vibration response signal directly. Numerical simulation and experimental results indicate that independent component analysis is robust to mode shape extraction and suitable for output-only structural modal parameter identification.
