The response of the TiNi alloy clipped beam under drop hammer impact was investigated by employing experimental and numerical methods. The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of phase transformation on the dynamic behavior of structures. The result shows that under the drop hammer impact the response of the clipped beam is the elastic flexural wave propagation in the beam during early period and then lead to structural response. The structural response of the TiNi alloy clipped beam will be different compared to the ideal elastic-plastic material as the phase transformations arise and the phase transformation hinges generate. The recoverable character of the phase transformation leads the beam recover to its original shape as the unloading fulfill.
