Under the background of the project of 500kV Rongjiang large crossing transmission lines in Shantou, Guangdong province, According to spatial finite element modal of the system, the frequent seismic responses were discussed by using mode-decomposition method and time-history analysis method respectively. Dynamic characteristics were summarized and comparisons of the results of the two methods were conducted. Moreover, contrastive analysis was carried out on earthquake internal forces and design critical forces of the key members. It is found that frequencies values of single tower is larger than that of the tower in the system while they are close to each other, responses of the system are smaller than that of single tower, the lines is benefit for the tower when considering earthquake action and seismic effects are not critical factor for the design. However, tensile members in crossarm and K bracing under the second slope are weak sections, the ratio of whose seismic forces and critical forces approximately is 90%. So, it is very necessary to consider earthquake actions for tensile members in crossarm and bracing members on tower body in large crossing transmission tower’ designs.
