In order to investigate the influences to gear system featuring confluence transmission caused by backlash nonlinear factors in gear system, and with the consideration of backlash, transmission error, time-varying mesh stiffness and layout parameters, a non-linear dynamic model of three-gear system having two gear pair was built. From mesh stiffness’s phase difference, driving frequency and load ratio respectively, the influence of gear system’s dynamic characteristics caused by changing of each parameter was researched. In order to judge the periodic motion and chaos behavior, Poincare mapping, spectrum and Lyapunov index based on chaotic time series were used. With the changing of system parameters such as frequency ratio and load ratio, left-right gear pairs show complex nonlinear dynamic behavior with coexist of same periodic motion, coexist of different periodic motion, double period bifurcation and chaos.
