Abstract: The effects of two kinds of semi-active control with Magnetorheological (MR) dampers on dynamic performance of 8-car high-speed Electric Multiple Units (EMU) were analyzed by co-simulation method. High-speed EMU model which includes nonlinear suspension system and MR damper was built, and verified with experimentation results. Based on performance experiment of MR damper, 9-order Polynomial model of MR damper was obtained by using polynomial model for curve fitting. Through co-simulation using ADMAS and Matlab, on-off controller and improved on-off controller were designed respectively, and the lateral semi-active damper of second suspension system was analyzed for high-speed EMU with MR damper. The simulation results show that the root mean square value of lateral acceleration of vehicle decrease 14.85% and 22.58% respectively, the index of lateral running stability of vehicle decrease 4.23% and 7.95% respectively under on-off control and improved on-off control compared to passive control. Therefore, the improved on-off controller has a better effect on vibration reduction.
