Abstract:To study ground vibration propagation induced by running heavy truck, field measurements of ground vibration were carried out during heavy truck running. Vibration attenuation was studied by peak acceleration amplitude, Fourier spectrum and vibration levels. Component of background vibration was removed from the total ground vibration using two methods, and then a fitted vibration attenuation formula was proposed by adopting pattern search method. It is concluded that, the directional vertical acceleration is the predominant component of the ground-borne vibration. With the increase of the vibration source distance, the vibration attenuates gradually, but there is a rapidly decaying trend near vibration source. From the frequency domain point of view, the high-frequency part is almost completely decayed after a short distance, while the low frequency part of the vibration only show moderate decay along with the distance increasing from vibration source. There is residual vibration of low frequency part even at 100 meters far.
