Abstract:Elastic-Plastic steel damper (EPSD) has good control effect, but the current researches and applications of this type of damper mainly concentrated on the building structures. Maochaojie bridge, a half-through concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridge with a main span of 368m is taken as an example in this paper. The control effect of Elastic-Plastic steel damper on seismic response of the bridge is investigated. The parametric sensitivity of damper is calculated based on nonlinear time-history analysis. These parameters include yield loads, elastic stiffness and different space locations of dampers. The influence of traveling wave effect on control efficiency of EPSD is especially investigated at last. Results show that the control effect of EPSD is prominent for the long span CFST arch bridge. Evenly distributing the dampers on bearings of girder is the best arrangement when all of the seismic responses of key section are considered. The control effect of damper is more obvious after considering traveling wave effect.
