Abstract: Based on an engineering design case of a multi-tower cable stayed bridge, influence of travelling-wave effect to seismic response of multi-tower cable stayed bridge with different constraint manners between tower and beam is discussed by means of dynamic response history analysis. The results indicate that influence of travelling-wave effect to seismic response of bending moment and shearing force in the bottom of each tower is different, displacement on the top of each tower and displacement of each beam unite is also different. The influence of travelling-wave effect to seismic response of multi-tower cable stayed bridges with different constraint manners between tower and beam is different, too. It will have relatively big influence when longitudinal constraint between tower and beam is locked. On the contrary, it will have relatively small influence when longitudinal constraint between tower and beam is free.
