In order to study vibration characteristics of basement structures excited by subway trains, field measurement was conducted in a structure over the subway line. The measured acceleration records were evaluated by using time-domain and frequency-domain analysis. The distribution of acceleration amplitude, vibration energy and phase angle among different structure locations was obtained. It is shown that the structure vibration is dominated by its vertical response, and the basement structure as a whole vibrates at one single frequency. Evaluation on human comfort of the structure is provided according to available Chinese code. Vibration level analysis of the measured records was discussed. The result shows the vibration level peaks at its dominating frequency. The results can provide important information for design of superstructure upon this basement structure, as well as for evaluation of similar structures.
