A dynamic model of the cylindrical gear transmission system is developed in consideration of the time-varying mesh stiffness, gear errors and meshing impact, in the process of meshing. Dynamic load of the bearing is taken as the excitation. Noise radiation of the gear reducer is calculated by using FEM/BEM, and then the noise spectrum of the gearbox is obtained. The meshing impact that influences the noise of the gearbox is analyzed and the factors that affect the noise of the gearbox are stated. The effect of gear error and operating load on vibration and noise radiation are studied, and the rule of noise radiation with gear error and operating load are obtained. The studies will provide useful theoretical guideline to the design of the gearbox.
