This paper presents the theory and technique of operational modal analysis in classical resonance for a certain tractor. Firstly, operational data set of even velocity was tested by LMS Test modal test system. Then the modal shape and modal frequency during resonance was analyzed. Measured the radial fluctuant value of all wheels, it was discovered that the value of front wheels was 150% more than the restricted value in GB (National Standard of the People’s Republic of China). To prevent the resonance, the two front wheels were replaced with new ones for fulfilling the requirement of GB. Repeat the experiment of operational modal analysis, the resonance disappeared after the replacement of front wheels. It demonstrates that the theory and technique of operational modal analysis resolving the resonance problem of the tractor in this study is valuable in engineering application.
