Design of a retrofitted damper and its shock response characteristics

Abstract

A retrofitted damper was proposed for the protection of equipment under high impact environment.The damper is based on the calculation formula of the annular clearance damping coefficient, and was designed based on the double acting damper as the improvement basis.The retrofitted damper used the principle of phase difference between elastic force and damping force.The impact response and self-characteristics of the damper were calculated with the single degree of freedom mathematical model.The results show that compared with the double-outlet fluid damper, the damper can effectively reduce the residual response without increasing the absolute acceleration and relative displacement amplitude, and the recovery time of the isolation body can be shortened by 48%.In the characterization analysis, compared with the double-outlet fluid damper, the energy consumption of the retrofitted damper can be increased by 28%, and the maximum damping force difference between the two dampers is 470 N.According to the results of the positive and negative double-wave tests, the simulation calculation can accurately describe the response characteristics of the retrofitted damper under shock, and it also proves that the damper has better anti-shock damping capacity.
