Abstract

In order to study the effect of different parameters on the dynamic response of soil-asymmetric structure system, a MATLAB program based on the analytic solution of interaction system’s dynamic equation was developed in this paper. Then, the influence of torsional to translational frequency ratio Ω, eccentricity ratio B, height-to-base ratio λh and the foundation properties on the natural vibration characteristic, elastic seismic response and the lateral-torsional coupling effect of the interaction system were thoroughly analyzed. It is concluded that the influence of such parameters on the lateral displacement transfer functions and torsional displacement transfer functions of the soil-asymmetric structures are different from the influencing laws of parameters on asymmetric structures on rigid foundation.

Key words

asymmetric structure / forced decoupling method / soil-structure interaction / lateral-torsional coupling / frequency domain analysis / parametric analysis
