Abstract

The sudden breakages of conduct enable the quick release of tension on conducts, which cause the dynamic impact effect on transmission line system. But the design Codes of transmission towers only consider conduct breakage load as static load. Taking a transmission line system as example, Finite Element Method is employed to construct the tower-line model. The calculating cases from one sub-conduct breakage to six sub-conduct breakages are simulated and the impinging between dropping conduct and ground is also considered. Conclusions show that, if the number of breaking sub-conduct is bigger or it is much closer to the breaking point, both the swing amplitudes and the peak axis forces on insulators of tangent towers will be larger. The breakage of conducts will result in two major impacts, one is induced by the sudden breakage of conduct, the other is induced by impinging between the dropping conduct and the ground.
