Abstract
The conformal mapping method of complex functions and expansion method of wave functions were adopted, the boundaries of the cavities were considered to be free and the stresses of the soils at the cavities were zero, and then the theoretical solutions were obtained about the multiple scattering problem of incident plane SV waves by the discontinuous barriers composed of several rows of cylindrical cavities. By studying the normalized displacements which are the ratios of the displacements caused by the incident and scattering SV waves to those only by the incident SV waves, the isolation effects of the barriers composed of one or more rows of cylindrical cavities were analyzed, and some more important conclusions were drawn out, which are that: (1) the isolation effects of the barriers composed of two, three and more rows of cylindrical cavities are better than those composed of only one row; (2) when the frequencies of the incident SV waves are lower, the isolation effects of the barriers composed of two rows of parallel positive aligned cylindrical cavities are better, while when the frequencies are higher, the isolation effects of two rows of parallel staggered cylindrical cavities are better; (3) the isolation effects of the barriers composed of three rows of cylindrical cavities are more better than those of two rows, and when the incident SV waves are higher, there are about 3/4 areas behind the barriers have better isolation effects that more than 60%; (4) as to the barriers composed of one or more rows of cylindrical cavities, when the incident frequencies of SV waves are higher, the areas near the edge of the barriers have better isolation effects than the middle.
