Abstract

Based on the Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method (SBFEM), an equation for calculating hydrodynamic pressure on dams was derived, which can consider the effects of compressibility of water and reservoir bottom absorption. A new semi-analytical method for calculating hydrodynamic pressure was proposed. Numerical examples of two-dimensional gravity dam have been provided. It is shown that this approach is superior to conventional methods in computational efforts and accuracy.

Key words
