Abstract

The vibration analysis of laminated composite beam under transverse excitation is investigated by energy finite element method (EFEM) in this paper. According to equilibrium between power flow and energy density, the averaged energy density is used as the primary variable to form the differential equation which is similar to Fourier heat transmission equation. The energy density equation can be discretized to node’s matrix form by finite element method (FEM). In addition to place multiple nodes and insert joint element at the couple joint, the coupled matrix is obtained and the global matrix equation can be assembled and solved. Good agreement was obtained after comparing the numerical results between EFEM and FEM.
