Abstract

A finite element model of elastic waves in detection of underground pipelines was established. And the infinite boundary was realized by an absorbing layer with gradually increased Rayleigh damping. Four models with typical space relationship of pipelines were studied, and the frequency spectral character of back waves was analyzed. The results show that transfer functions of detection systems can reveal some space information of underground pipelines. The calculation and analyses above are in good agreement with experimental results.
