Abstract

This paper proposes an approach of analyzing the dynamic response of rectangle thin-walled box girders generally used in engineering, in consideration of two different longitudinal displacement difference functions to accurately reflect the amplitude of change of shear lag in the thin-walled box girders with various widths of wing slabs( ). The differential equations and the corresponding natural boundary conditions of the box girders with large cantilever slabs are induced based on the minimum potential principle, and closed-form solutions of generalized dynamic displacements , , , are obtained. According to the fundamental differential equations and the corresponding natural boundary conditions, the dynamic characteristics of thin-walled box girders are discussed. The calculation examples compare the finite solid element solutions with the analytical solutions and verify the validity of the proposed approach, the formulas obtained in this study develop the shear lag theory.
