Abstract

On the basis of Biot’s dynamic theory, the isolation effectiveness of obliquely incident elastic waves by an array of pipe piles in saturated soil was investigated. The potential functions of incident and scattered waves were expanded into Fourier-Bessel series, and the coefficients of scattering waves field were determined by imposing continuity conditions at the soil-pile interfaces with the help of a set of cylindrical coordinate systems and the Graff’s addition theorem. A parametric analysis was conducted to study the influence of the soil permeability and the wall thickness of the pipe pile on the isolation effectiveness. The numerical results show that for an array of pipe piles, the isolation effectiveness is better than that of an array of solid piles, and the isolation effectiveness increases with the decrease of the soil permeability.
