Abstract

The honeycomb fibreboard is modeled as linear material with viscoelastic property, taking the structure and the material into account, the relaxation kernel is expressed as the sum of exponentials. The parameter identification procedure is formulated using the free response data of honeycomb fibreboard—mass system, firstly, the signal poles of the free response data are obtained using modified Prony method, the stiffness coefficient, damping coefficient and the viscoelastic parameters can be identified using the signal poles. The experiment system for recording the free response data of honeycomb fibreboard—mass system is developed, the parameter identification procedure is applied to the free response data, the stiffness coefficient, damping coefficient and the viscoelastic parameters under different strain condition can be get. The method to simulate the free response of honeycomb fibreboard—mass system is deduced, the simulate result indicates the free response of honeycomb fibreboard—mass system can be accurately predicted, using the parameters identified from the dynamic property model in this paper, and the model can provide design basis for the proper use of honeycomb fibreboard in packaging.
