Abstract

An improved generalized genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. A heterogeneous strategy is introduced to increase population diversity and avoid premature convergence. This algorithm is applied to the problem of the robust optimization for structures under complicated loading. The objective function of generalized genetic algorithm is constructed by signal-to-noise ratio of Taguchi target. Numerical examples demonstrated that the heterogeneous strategy can raise the convergence probability of global optimal solution and speed up the process of convergence. The improved generalized genetic algorithm combined with the robust design method can effectively solve the problem of the robust optimization for structures under complicated loading with uncertain parameters.
