Abstract

The flow-induced vibration of elastic element is used in heat transfer enhancement. The way to induce and control of element vibration is the key point in the application of this technique. Elastic heat transfer element is composed with several curving pipes, which are connected with a rigid body. The elastic heat transfer element is supported as a cantilever. Due to its complicated structure, it is hard to study the element vibration characteristic in a direct way. The dynamic substructure theory is used in this paper to study the vibration characteristic of dimensional helical tube. First, the mass matrix and stiffness matrix are obtained with super element method; then the component mode synthesis method is used to set up the vibration equation. The vibration is solved with mathematic analysis. The influence of structural parameter to its vibration characteristic is also studied. The results show that the vibration of dimensional helical tube is mainly axial, the parameter of taper and cross-section diameter are of larger influence on the tube vibration characteristic, while the parameter of tube thickness and helical pitch are of rather smaller influence.
