Abstract

Polygonal wear of tire is one of the most pressing problems to be solved in the process of a vehicle’s research and design. Considering the nonlinear characteristic of tire’s grounding friction, a two-degree-of-freedom dynamic vibration model of the suspension-tire-tread system, taking time-delay into account, is established to research the polygonal wear of tire based on self-excited vibration theory. The sensitive parameters and speed range which can motivate self-excited vibration are calculated,as well as the phenomenon of hard self-excited vibration are proved to be reasonable at high speed after simulating in matlab/simulink. The dynamic vibration model can analyze the impact of suspension’s dynamic characteristic on tire’s polygonal wear and provide a theoretic foundation to reduce or eliminate the tire’s self-excited vibration.
