Abstract

The clamped-clamped thin-walled circular cylindrical tube is considered as the Timoshenko beam model. The natural frequencies and the normal modes of the vibration of the thin-walled circular cylindrical tube without liquid are expressed by the vibration theory of the beam bending and the finite element model, which the effect of the concentrated mass is considered. The differential vibration equation and natural frequency equation of the tube with flowing fluid are expressed. A set of experiment equipment is designed and performed to test the first three natural frequencies and normal mode of the thin-walled cylindrical tube without, with static liquid and with flowing fluid. The frequency-response curve of the thin-walled cylindrical tube with static liquid is soft-type of nonlinear. The data obtained from the experiments are very close to theoretical values. The liquid in the thin-walled cylindrical tube makes the natural frequency decline.
