Abstract

A cable model on inhomogeneity boundary condition was established. And according to this universal model, the frequency equation in consideration of cable stiffness and fixed boundary condition was deduced based on the linear vibration theory of stay cable. The frequency equation respectively on fixed boundary condition was simplified according to the hyperbolic functions’ mathematical characteristics. Practical solution method and steps of the cable tension were proposed by a converse process. An experimental cable model was designed, and a series of experiments were conducted to compare calculated cable tension with practical cable tension on 54 different work conditions, which verified that the simplified frequency equation and the converse process solution method presented in this paper are practical and dependable.
