Vibration Active Control of a Cantilever Beam with a Noncontact Magnetic Force

Abstract

A method for vibration control of an iron cantilever beam using the noncontact force of a permanent magnet was proposed bere. The vibration model of the cantilever beam with a tip mass was derived and then updated by experiments. The properties of the force between the magnet and the beam were determined using theoretic analysis and tests. A control strategy for suppression of the beam transverse vibration with the noncontact force of the permanent magnet was put forward. Numerical simulation and actual experiment were implemented with the iron cantilever beam. The results showed that the proposed control method is effective and the simulation fits well with the experiment.
