Wind Load Characteristics of Roof Surface of Certain airport Terminal

Abstract

Based on the results from the wind tunnel test for an airport terminal, the characteristics of wind pressure on the roof surface were analyzed. Negative pressure dominates the whole roof surface for each wind direction. For most part of the roof, the absolute value of negative wind pressure is small and uniform, though large absolute value and large gradient of negative wind pressure occur on the windward surface. In order to further explain pressure generation mechanism, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was adopted to simulate wind speed field at typical wind direction.
