Abstract

In this paper, the principle of minimum potential energy with mixed variables is extend to solve the stability of elastic thin cantilever rectangular plates and the characteristic equation and result is given by it. The result can be a reference for engineering. Especially, the paper give a efficacious, simple and convenient method to design for stability of pressure structures. By calculation, it is proved that the solution is well suited to the cantilever rectangular plates stability.

Key words

elastic thin rectangular plates / elastic stability / principle of minimum potential energy with mixed variables / characteristic equation / critical load
