Abstract

As model test is an effective method to study the characteristics and mechanism of ice-induced vibrations of structure. In this paper, based on a modified similitude law, a laboratory test is performed for the simulation of ice-induced vibrations of a pier structure , in which DUT-1 model ice sheet are driven by the trailer at different velocity. Both the ice sheet time histories and the response of pier are measured. According to the test phenomenon and measured results, some valuable conclusions are obtained. Therefore, this ice- induced pier vibration model test can provide references for the progress of real ice engineering in cold area., and is a suitable way to study the ice-structure interactions and ice-induced vibration . It also can make the model test develop more perfectly.
