Abstract

Propagation of air shock wave inside a tunnel induced by internal explosions and distribution law of shock wave load on inner surface of the tunnel are studied in this paper. The flow fields of shock wave inside a tunnel with and without end walls are described on the basis of three-dimensional finite element analysis. Distribution laws of peak reflected overpressure (i.e. peak load) and impulse on inner surface of the tunnel are analyzed. Influences of shape and explosion height of TNT explosives on propagation of shock wave and the load are taken into account. The formula to evaluate attenuation of peak value of reflected shock wave load on inner surface of the tunnel with distance from the center of explosion is proposed.
