Abstract

When marine main engine is mounted on air springs, its vibration transmitted to ship hull can be greatly attenuated. But it is more difficult for the main engine to keep alignment with the propulsion shafting. During its operation, the main engine is subject to various disturbances which increase misalignment. So it is important to control these alignment disturbances. By charging and deflating air springs, the misalignment induced by disturbances can be effectively controlled. The control strategy is presented in this paper. And the disturbance control effect is analyzed based on the experiment data of a main engine air spring mounting system.
