Abstract

Based on the performance experiment of piezoelectric friction damper, a series of shake table tests were carried out using a piezoelectric friction damper under various earthquakes. The simulation model of the structure with piezoelectric friction damper was established by using MATLAB/Simulink software platform and software/hardware resources of dSPACE (digital Signal Processing and Control Engineering). The shake table experiments were implemented by using rapid control prototype technology. The seismic efficiencies of the designed piezoelectric friction damper and proposed velocity-input fuzzy control strategy were both evaluated. Experimental results indicate that the designed piezoelectric friction damper can adjust its damping force according to structure responses by proposed control method in real-time and effectively suppress the structural responses under earthquake excitations
